A New Global Destination on the Mediterranean

A new chapter in Mediterranean living is unfolding on Egypt’s North Coast. At the heart of the New Administrative Capital, a visionary partnership was sealed between the New Urban Communities Authority and Qatari Diar—ushering in one of the region’s most ambitious coastal transformations to date.

With an investment value approaching USD 30 billion, the development of Alam Al-Roum promises to elevate the North Coast into a global destination—celebrated for its pristine turquoise waters, expansive landscapes, and year-round lifestyle appeal. Witnessed by His Excellency Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, this partnership stands as a testament to the growing synergy between Egypt and Qatar, and their shared ambition to ignite sustainable economic growth through landmark projects.

Where Vision Meets World-Class Living

Stretching across 4,900 acres and 7.2 kilometers of untouched Mediterranean shoreline, Alam Al-Roum is designed to set a new benchmark for integrated urban living. More than just a development, it is a complete ecosystem—crafted to offer residents and visitors an elevated lifestyle that harmonizes luxury, nature, and convenience.

The destination will bring to life:

  • High-end residential communities with premium waterfront living
  • World-class hotels and resort experiences
  • A landmark international marina, complemented by two internal marinas
  • Golf courses, artificial lagoons, and expansive leisure zones
  • Signature retail, dining, and entertainment districts
  • Cutting-edge infrastructure, from power stations to water desalination facilities
  • Essential community services including schools, universities, hospitals, and government facilities

With 60% of the land devoted to residential neighborhoods, 15% to services, and a generous 25% to green spaces, roads, and public areas, Alam Al-Roum is engineered to flourish as a sustainable, vibrant destination all year long.

A Shared Commitment to Growth

The signing ceremony brought together distinguished leaders from both nations, including senior Qatari and Egyptian ministers and the executive leadership of Qatari Diar. Their presence underscored the project’s political backing and regional significance.

Prime Minister Madbouly described the agreement as “a major investment partnership between our two brotherly nations”, emphasizing the alignment between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in driving economic cooperation and unlocking future-forward opportunities.

His Excellency Abdullah Al Attiyah, Minister of Municipality of Qatar and Chairman of Qatari Diar, highlighted the project’s transformative impact: “This strategic investment reinforces our confidence in the Egyptian economy and elevates the North Coast into a world-class destination.”

Beyond its architectural and touristic value, Alam Al-Roum is expected to generate over 250,000 direct and indirect jobs, catalyzing growth, empowering local communities, and boosting private-sector participation.

A Catalyst for Egypt’s Future Coastal Landscape

For Qatari Diar, Alam Al-Roum represents a defining milestone in its long-standing presence in Egypt, joining iconic landmarks such as The St. Regis Cairo, CityGate New Cairo, and New Giza.

For Egypt, it marks another significant step toward unlocking the full economic and touristic potential of the Mediterranean coastline.

As Egypt continues to welcome foreign investment through structured and forward-looking policies, developments like Alam Al-Roum are shaping a new national narrative—one of innovation, partnership, and sustainable prosperity.
